Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: May 12, 2026

This policy defines what you can and cannot do with InsideDB. Violating these rules may result in account suspension or termination.

1. Introduction

InsideDB provides AI-powered data workflow automation — searching the web, extracting content, enriching data with AI, and automating browser-based workflows. This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines acceptable and prohibited uses of the InsideDB platform. By using InsideDB, you agree to follow this policy. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

2. Permitted Use

InsideDB is designed for legitimate data collection, automation, and AI-powered enrichment. Permitted uses include:

  • Market research — collecting publicly available information about companies, products, and industries.
  • Competitive intelligence — monitoring competitor pricing, product changes, and public communications.
  • Data enrichment — augmenting your own datasets with publicly available information.
  • Content monitoring — tracking changes to public web pages you have a legitimate interest in.
  • Academic research — collecting data for scholarly or scientific purposes.
  • SEO and SERP analysis — monitoring search engine rankings for domains you own or manage.

3. Prohibited Use

The following uses of InsideDB are strictly prohibited:

Illegal or Harmful Activities

  • Accessing, collecting, or distributing content that is illegal in your jurisdiction or ours.
  • Scraping or accessing content behind authentication without explicit authorization.
  • Circumventing paywalls, DRM, or access controls to obtain protected content.
  • Accessing or distributing personal data (PII) without consent or legal basis.

Abuse of Third-Party Services

  • Sending excessive request volumes that disrupt or degrade target websites ("DoS via scraping").
  • Ignoring robots.txt directives, rate limits, or explicit blocking signals from target websites.
  • Scraping websites that explicitly prohibit automated access in their terms of service.
  • Using InsideDB to bypass CAPTCHAs through automated solving services.

Malicious or Deceptive Use

  • Phishing, credential harvesting, or impersonating other websites or services.
  • Generating or distributing spam, disinformation, or fraudulent content.
  • Creating fake accounts, reviews, or engagement on any platform.
  • Using AI features to generate harmful, abusive, or deceptive content.

Platform Abuse

  • Creating multiple accounts to circumvent rate limits, credit limits, or bans.
  • Reselling or redistributing InsideDB's API access or scraping infrastructure.
  • Using InsideDB to build a competing product or service.
  • Reverse engineering, decompiling, or extracting the platform's source code.

Prohibited Content & AI Use

  • Using AI features to generate content that violates OpenAI's or Anthropic's usage policies.
  • Collecting or processing data related to children under 16 without parental consent.
  • Collecting or processing sensitive personal data (health, biometric, political, religious) without explicit consent and legal basis.

4. Automated Access Guidelines

When using InsideDB's web scraping and automation features, you must follow these guidelines:

  • Respect robots.txt — our crawler respects robots.txt directives by default. Do not configure it to ignore them.
  • Rate limit your requests — use reasonable delays between requests. Our platform enforces minimum delays, but you remain responsible for not overwhelming target sites.
  • Identify your traffic — our crawler uses a transparent user agent. Do not modify it to impersonate browsers or hide automation.
  • Use for legitimate purposes — scraping should serve a clear business, research, or personal purpose. Bulk indiscriminate scraping is not permitted.
  • Honor cease-and-desist requests — if a website owner asks you to stop scraping, you must comply and configure domain exclusions.

5. Data Handling Requirements

You are responsible for the data you collect and process through InsideDB:

  • Ensure you have a lawful basis for collecting and processing any personal data (GDPR, CCPA, or equivalent).
  • Do not use InsideDB to store or process sensitive personal data unless you have implemented appropriate safeguards.
  • Delete data when it is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected.
  • If you use AI features, review AI-generated output before using it in production — AI can produce incorrect or biased results.

6. Enforcement

We monitor platform usage to detect violations of this policy. Consequences for violations may include:

  • Warning — for first-time or minor violations, we will notify you and request corrective action.
  • Temporary suspension — for repeated or moderate violations, your account or specific features may be suspended.
  • Permanent termination — for severe or repeated violations, including illegal activity, fraud, or deliberate abuse of third-party services.

We may also report illegal activity to relevant law enforcement authorities.

7. Reporting Violations

If you believe someone is violating this policy, or if you are a website owner who believes InsideDB is being used to scrape your site inappropriately, please contact us at support@insidedb.ai. We investigate all reports and take appropriate action.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of InsideDB after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
